After the incredible success of his first single, “Hotel Room,” singer-songwriter Blake Rose has returned with his eagerly awaited and much-anticipated sophomore album, “Lost.” The masterfully composed song by the Australian living in Los Angeles does more than just slake our appetite for fresh music. Silvery guitar riffs, a lively bass line, and an upbeat, steady pace provide the perfect backdrop for Rose’s velvet vocals, which blend in well with his vivid rawness. Feeling the blow of his suffering, we can’t help but clench our chests.
Rose depicts the feelings of sorrow and late-night contemplation that come with a breakup with her lines, “I’m wide awake/ missing your face/ missing your taste/ wishing you were lost with me,” which are straightforward but still profound. Alone and burdened by their absence, he weeps for a lost love. “No I don’t want to wait/ I don’t want to say/ Remember what we used to be?” he sings as he proceeds to take us on his journey. We have all been there before, hoping that there is still time to recognize that calling it quits was not the right decision. Even though Blake Rose has just recently started his musical career, he is already well on his path to success.
