The modern world, relationships, and self improvement are tricky topics to navigate, yet in Harry Eley’s debut EP, ‘Me’, he manages to tackle all three, and then some, within the scope of five, emotionally and sonically powerful tracks. Eley is a definitive new voice in the indie-rock scene with the release of this EP, showcasing mature and complex artistry within his new works. The multi talented Harry Eley is continuing to make big waves in the music industry with much anticipated and buzzed about release of his EP. Eley is a self-sufficient and fully capable artist, as showcased with his lead single “Stop The War”, which presents emotional, albeit complex, depictions of love and conflict. Eley has exchanged patterns with Millie Cameron to tackle this new single, and like all of Eley’s tracks, this has gained heavy appreciation and praise, especially from BBC Radio. The raw openness in the feelings explained on this track help to display the more shy and forgiving tendencies Eley has in his more complex, conflict filled songs.

Regarding the EP tracks, the guitar-driven reflective nature of “Thinking of You” stands out. The track showcases Harry’s gifted storytelling ability, weaving sadness into yearning. “Half The Problem” keeps the energy moving with a somewhat faster pace, though it leans into the reality of self battles within every relationship. The relatable lines and catchy chorus add to the list of highlights within the track. “Jewels” is a delightful surprise, offering a bit of hope beyond the rawness embedded in the other songs. It is a softer and more personal reflection that showcases Harry’s vocals and invites the listener into his world.
The EP ends with “Happy Hate Story (Extended Version)” which previously made a splash when it was released as a single. The added depth in the extended version provides a more powerful mixture of indie rock and emotive balladry, showcasing the track’s core. It’s a fitting closing remark, the E.P. in its entirety brings out a sense of contemplation. Each track contributes to the overall feeling, which is largely accomplished. As a debut EP, ‘Me’ showcases Eley’s heartache, hope and humor when it comes to life and love in this day and age. It should be heard, especially for those in pursuit of realness in music.
