It’s Doctor are back with’ Rash Vest’ out 9th October 2026 via Danger Records. The band (who are London/brighton based alternative rock trio) have long been known for their blend of melodic indie rock with a rather darkly humorous lyrical approach. ‘ Rash Vest’ is another example of how inspiration can be drawn from the most mundane aspects of daily life. The band are fronted by Welsh singer songwriter and bassist Doctor G, with Doctor P on guitar and Doctor M on drums. Over the course of more than a decade they’ve developed a sound which is very much guitar driven and melodic, yet has a distinct alternative slant. Their influences and comparisons run the gamut from Weezer and the Pixies to Talking Heads and They’ve certainly established their own unique identity in the process. A lot of fun and a very distinct personality to their songwriting.

The ‘Rash Vest’ story is quite the odd one really. It’s based on a real life incident involving a lost rash vest and the subsequent case of sunburn. It’s a perfect example of how a song can be born from the most mundane of situations and still be a fun, engaging piece of work. It’s a case in point that you don’t need to be writing about anything particularly grand or dramatic to produce a good song. That’s the very essence of the band’s songwriting really, they’re writing about love and loss and all the other more normal things that make up our lives. They’re able to shift seamlessly between the more downbeat lyrical content and the more offbeat, humorous observations which gives the track its character. All of that sits on a solid melodic alternative rock foundation which makes for a very listenable piece of music.
“Rash Vest” is the band’s fifth album, “Darkness In Me”, released on 16th September 2026. Recorded at Berry Sound Studios in Walthamstow it was produced by Sean Berry and mixed and mastered by Natalie Bibby (again continuing the same creative partnership that has helped define the band’s sound). There’s already new material in the works and further live dates in the pipeline for 2027. The forthcoming dates are New Cross Inn in London on 12th October, The Phoenix on 13th November and The Fiddler’s Elbow in Camden on 4th December 2026. With their blend of melodic rock, their thoughtful songwriting and their very distinctive sense of humour, “Rash Vest” is another window into a band who are very much at ease in doing things their own way.
“Sometimes the most absurd moments in life are the best inspiration for songwriting.”
