Dorian Turns Soul, Romance and Experimentation Into a Colourful Journey on “Reconnected”

Dorian’s Reconnected is an album which doesn’t fit easily into just one genre, and it’s precisely this characteristic that makes so much of it appealing. Although it is based on soul it also extends into dance, pop and other areas that break down genre boundaries, and from the first track titled “INTRO” up to the final “OUTRO” the album comes across as vibrant, confident and very personal. Dorian has developed his musical style through a habit of experimentation, a trait that is evident in all fourteen tracks. The sincere vocals and lyrics that he has written provide the record with an emotional core, while the changing musical textures keep the album moving rather than letting it become stuck in a single, predictable sound. There is a feeling of freedom in the way that Dorian tackles these songs, as if each track offers him another chance to discover a different aspect of his artistic personality.

It then shifts towards a more reflective tone with “LAST GOODBYE” and “FRESH START”, before reaching the title track, “RECONNECTED”, which expresses the main idea of finding your way back to someone or something that still matters. “LOVE LETTER” and “YOUR PEACE” carry on with that emotional theme, making the record seem less like a random assortment of songs and more like a journey through the various stages of love and personal experience. One of the album’s key strengths is Dorian’s ability to alternate between lively moments and more heartfelt material.

What is so interesting about Reconnected is that Dorian seems to be moving forward instead of just carrying on with what has already worked. Since making his musical debut in 2019, he has built a reputation for writing songs that cross different genres, and this album carries on from that trend by being prepared to take risks and delve into new musical areas. The fact that he has gone on from being a dreamer from New Jersey to becoming an independent artist with millions of streams provides further background, but it is the music itself that is the main draw. Reconnected appears to be ambitious without at the same time losing its emotional strength, combining vibrant sounds with lyrics that are truly heartfelt. It is an album concerned with reconnecting with love, with another person, and maybe even with various aspects of oneself, all presented by an artist who clearly has no intention of being confined to a single musical style.
