Dr. M. steps into intriguing territory with Follow Me, a debut album built around the artist’s self-defined “Adult Metal” concept — a meeting point between the melodic accessibility of adult contemporary music and the weight, drama and intensity of heavy metal. Across the album’s seven listed tracks, Dr. M. keeps the songwriting at the centre, combining programmed drums and instrumentation with arrangements designed to give the music a polished, expansive character. The result is an ambitious project that clearly wants to move beyond genre conventions rather than simply reproduce them.

The album opens with “Follow Me,” establishing the project’s melodic-metal foundation before moving into “Blinded by Love,” where the emotional side of the concept comes further into focus. “It’s All Music” feels like a natural statement of intent, while “(Anyone Can Be A) Hero” brings a more uplifting, motivational energy. “On the Foggy Way Back Home” suggests a more reflective turn, contrasting nicely with the heavier atmosphere of “Welcome to Babylon.” Closing with “Song to the Sun,” the record leaves room for warmth and optimism alongside its metallic edge. Lead vocalist Maria Moon gives the material a strong focal point throughout, while the production is handled almost entirely by Dr. M. himself, with Grammy-winning mastering engineer Svante Forsbäck adding the final polish.
What makes Follow Me particularly interesting is the independence behind its creation. Dr. M. has written the music and much of the lyrical material, programmed the drums and other instruments, and taken responsibility for the mixing, effectively shaping the album from the ground up. Rather than treating metal and adult contemporary as opposing worlds, the project attempts to find the emotional and melodic territory where the two can coexist. “Follow Me is an ambitious debut that trades genre boundaries for melody, emotion and the sheer desire to create something different.”
